The relationship between periodontal health and oral malodor
Ji Yun-Jeong

Abstract
We examined oral malodor and critical periodontal index, in oder to estimate the correlation coefficient between two factors. This study performed from December 2012 to 2013 with 80 adults who visited at the Dental Clinic in Metropolis(M=55, F=25). The results obtained through oral examinations, measuring halitosis and interviews individually. The ammonia level of the CPI 2 and 3 group revealed at 36.03¡¾36.39 ppm. It was higher than healthy gingival group CPI 0 and 1(13.51 ¡¾ 20.43ppm(p<0.01). Also, CH2SH level of CPI 2 and 3 group( 28.94¡¾68.74ppb) was higher than CPI 0 and 1 group( 7.45¡¾18.30 ppb(p<0.05)). Our result demonstrated the correlation coefficiency between the Ammonium level and CPI index was estimated as r=0.44.(p<0.05) and there was a weak relationship between the ammonia level and Gingival Index r=0.334.(p<0.05)).
